"A total of 2,060.682 hectares of land covering ten villages in Raigad district coming under two industrial areas has been acquired in the first phase of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC)," the Industries Minister Subhash Desai stated in a written reply to a starred question raised by the Congress member Narayan Rane in the Legislative Council.
Desai stated that the process of land acquisition is being carried out with the consent of farmers, by deputy divisional officer and deputy district collector, Mangaon, in the district.
"As per the existing policy of the Maharashtra Industries Development Corporation (MIDC), those land owners giving alternative options will be given 15 per cent developed plot of land," he said.
Desai clarified that as per provisions of the MIDC Act 1961, compensation amount is being fixed through negotiations for acquiring 12,140.869 hectares of land in total five industrial areas for the DMIC project.
Recently, NCP president Sharad Pawar had announced to launch a stir against the acquisition of lands of farmers for the project.
It includes 24 industrial regions, eight smart cities, two airports, five power projects, two mass rapid transit systems, and two logistical hubs.
