More than 6,400 youngsters are participating in a hackathon being organised here by the Rajasthan government, a senior official said today.
The 36-hour event, Hackathon 4.0, is 12 hours longer than the previous edition which was held at Udaipur in December.
"We are now having the fourth edition of Hackathon where youth from across the country is participating and showing their talent," Akhil Arora, Principal Secretary at the Department of Information Technology and Communications, told PTI.
At the previous edition, there were around 1,800 participants.
"This time around we are having a Hackathon of more than 6,400 youths from across the country which is largest not only in India but in the world," he claimed.
Hackathon 4.0 is part of Rajasthan Digifest 2018, being organised by the state government's IT and Communications department.
The Digifest, which started on March 18, concludes tomorrow.
In the latest edition, a new segment -- Greena-a-thon -- has been introduced wherein the participants would work on ideas pertaining to conservation of environment.
"As sustained development or care for environment is one of the major concerns, so out of over 6,400 more than 750 youngsters are participating in Greena-a-thon," Arora said.
Hackathon gives an opportunity to various individuals from the field of information technology and e-governance to showcase their skills.
The top three winners would get orders worth Rs 15 lakh, Rs 10 lakh and Rs 7.5 lakh, respectively, from the government directly.
