Over 9,000 lives lost in road accidents in Raj this year till

Over 9,000 people lost their lives in road accidents in Rajasthan till November this year, with maximum casualties occurring in Jaipur district.
A total of 22,805 road mishaps took place in the state from January to November this year in which 9,438 people were killed and 25,597 were injured, according to the state police data.
Last year, over 9,500 people were killed in road accidents in the state.
As many as 1,184 deaths were reported in 4,017 accidents in Jaipur district, including 2,854 accidents claiming 763 lives under the Jaipur Police Commissionerate area.
Alwar recorded the second highest number of accidents at 1,311, while the number of accidents in Udaipur was 1,279 and 1,287 in Ajmer.

Transport Minister Yunus Khan, meanwhile, said the government was trying to bring down the cases of road accidents by taking initiatives to improve road engineering and other measures.

Khan said the government was speeding up road projects in the state so that accidents can be curbed to minimum level.
Sawai Man Singh Hospital in the capital, which is the biggest government hospital of the state, admits critical victims from all over the state.
A hospital spokesperson said 41,954 injured people were admitted to the hospital from January to November and around 10,000 of them were from neighbouring states like Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
