Paddy purchase in Punjab reaches 114.15 lakh tonne

Paddy procurement in Punjab has reached 114.15 lakh tonne with 98 per cent being purchased by government-owned agencies in the ongoing kharif marketing season 2014-15.
Of total procurement, the government agencies procured 112.3 lakh tonne while the private traders procured 1.8 lakh MT of crop, said an official spokesman.
District Ludhiana was leading by procuring 14.70 lakh tonne of paddy followed by Sangrur and Moga procuring 14.21 lakh tonne and 11.34 lakh tonne of paddy.
