Police have registered an FIR against the teacher on a complaint by the father of a student of Quaid-i-Azam School and College of Science and Commerce in Toba Tek Singh, about 200km from Lahore.
The teacher - identified as Azeem - had spoken against Islam, according to the FIR registered under section 295 A of Pakistan Penal Code.
The complainant told the police that his son was absent for a day this week and when he went to school yesterday, the teacher beat him for being being absent.
The student informed his family about the incident and they - along with a large number of people - demonstrated against the teacher outside the school and later marched towards the police station.
