Palestinian officials say a 21-year- old Palestinian has been killed in an Israeli raid in the West Bank town of Jenin.
Israeli police spokeswoman Luba Samri says special forces raided a refugee camp in Jenin early today and saw a man preparing to throw an explosive device at them. Samri says an Israeli soldier opened fire and hit the suspect, who dropped the explosive and was then harmed as it detonated.
Palestinian officials say the wounded man was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The security officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to brief the media.
Israeli forces carry out occasional arrest raids in the West Bank to root out wanted militants.
