Panchayat department official arrested in suicide case

An official has been arrested in connection with the alleged suicide of a village head in Hansi sub division here, police said.
Surender Jangra, Secretary of Block Development and Panchayat Department, Hansi, was arrested today.
Facing the charges of embezzlement of funds in MGNREGS, suspended Sarpanch Ajit Singh of village Gagan Kheri in Hansi sub division, had allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his cattle shed on April 10.
In his suicide note Singh had named 11 persons, including Haryana Panchayat department officials, accusing them for mental harassment.
Singh had alleged that while the district administration had acquitted him of the charges, but officials of the department did not hand over the charge of Sarpanch to him.

A case under sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 of IPC was registered on a complaint of Abhishek, son of deceased, by Hansi police against 11 persons whose names were mentioned in the suicide note.
