A 28-year-old paramedic, who wanted to eliminate the "evil" of homosexuality from the Pakistani society, has been arrested here for allegedly killing five gay men he befriended on a social networking site.
Ejaz, who used to make friendship with his potential victims on Facebook, has confessed to the murder of three men, but denied having sex with them.
The three victims, including two teenagers, were found with their necks broken and had been sedated. They were residents of Lahore -- Cantonment, Shahdara and Iqbal Town.
Muhammed Ejaz told reporters that he wanted to eliminate the "evil" of homosexuality from the society.
"My act may refrain the other gay men in Islamic society from indulging in this sinful act," he said.
Ejaz was married in 2011 and has two infant children. He has been sent to four-day physical remand after being arrested last week.
"We have arrested Muhammad Ejaz from Lahore on the charges of killing five (gay) men. He confessed to have murdered three men after having sex with them.
"We are interrogating him for his involvement in two other murder cases which appear to be of similar nature," Investigation Officer Hasnain Shah of South Cantonment police station told PTI.
Police insist Ejaz had sex with his victims first and then killed them.
"After remaining in contact with them for sometime he called his victims at different Piza shops and sprinkled a sedative liquid on the food they ate and then took them to his place in Mughalpura and Shahdara.
"He strangled them after having sex with them. The sedative had its effect after few hours. Once his victims fell unconscious he strangled them," the officer said.
Shah said the accused was traced after they examined the call logs of his victims.
Sodomy is punishable by up to 10 years in jail under the Pakistan Penal Code.
The accused has been booked under the murder and sodomy charges.
