NCP chief Sharad Pawar made a "big mistake" by fielding several ministers of his party for the Lok Sabha polls as people got a chance to vent their anger against them and the party, senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde today said.
"Chhagan Bhujbal (NCP candidate trailing from Nashik) and Sunil Tatkare (NCP nominee from Raigad) were not keen on contesting the polls but Pawar fielded them.
"People got a chance to vent their angst over corruption and non-development against Pawar's party and men," said Munde, who is leading by over 22,000 votes against NCP minister Suresh Dhas from Beed.
NCP candidates are leading in three of the 21 seats the party has contested.
The Sharad Pawar-led party has 8 members in the outgoing Lok Sabha.
"I had predicted over 35 seats for the Mahayuti (NDA) alliance. We look set to win over 40," Munde said.
"NCP tried to corner me in every poll. They said Munde won't be there in 16th Lok Sabha. I want to tell them that I will be in 16th as well as 17th Lok Sabha," the BJP's deputy leader in Lok Sabha said.
Asked if he would be inducted in the Narendra Modi-led government, Munde said, "the party will decide. It is not for me to comment.
