PCB keen to make Ajmal play domestic cricket: Reports

The bowling action review committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recommended that suspended off-spinner Saeed Ajmal appear in some domestic cricket matches before he is considered for World Cup selection.
A member of the committee told PTI that at its meeting last Friday the committee was satisfied that Ajmal had vastly corrected his bowling action and would be able to meet the ICC requirement of not extending his elbow beyond 15 degrees.
"But the committee is concerned whether he will be as effective with his remodelled action," the member said.
"We have told the board that Saeed should be asked to appear in some domestic matches from second week of December so that we can decide whether he is ready to be sent for the official biomechanics test of the ICC before the World Cup," the member who declined to be named said.

The committee which also includes the head coach of the national cricket academy, Muhammad Akram has been informed by the board that Ajmal will appear for his second private biomechanics test in the UK this week.
"He has been working hard on his action with Saqlain Mushtaq in England and he will appear for his second Test this week," the member confirmed.

"We are hopeful that he will clear the second private test this week," he added.
"Once the second test is held he will return to Pakistan to play domestic matches."
Saeed also underwent an informal test in the UK earlier this month and while he showed marked improvement in his bowling action but he was still over the 15 degrees mark of the ICC specially while bowling the "Doosra" delivery.

The member admitted that time was running out for Ajmal since the PCB had to submit the final 15 member squad for the World Cup by January 7.
"Time is now running out for him as he has complete all procedures including appearing in a few domestic matches before the January deadline."
The committee also reviewed all other cases where bowlers in domestic matches were reported for suspect bowling actions under the new ICC protocol.
The champion off-spinner was suspended by the ICC from bowling in international matches in September this year after failing a biomechanics test in Brisbane.
