Senior Congress leader Mianul Haque today said the people have understood the game plan of BJP and its leaders who are out to mislead the masses by spreading false and hallow slogans.
Haque, All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary and in-charge of party affairs in Jammu and Kashmir, alleged that BJP had "made narrow and communal approach to garner support in the Lok Sabha elections".
"The people of the country have now understood the game plan of BJP and its leaders who were out to mislead the masses by spreading false and hallow slogans," Haque said while addressing party workers and panchayat members at Nagrota constituency near here.
"The results of the recently held by-elections in various states indicate that the people have understood the game plan of BJP," he claimed.
"Narrow and sectarian ideologies divide our society and weaken our unity and democracy," he said and added that "we should not allow these ideologies to grow in our secular country".
He appealed to the people to vote for his Congress party to strengthen the bond of brotherhood and communal harmony, which is the need of the hour, to defeat the communal and divisive combinations in the upcoming state elections.
In another meeting at the state Congress headquarters here, Haque asked the party men to strengthen the party at the grassroot level by propagating the policies of the party and programmes of the coalition government.
He said that booth level and panchayat level committees need to be constituted in all the assembly segments in the state in order to strengthen the party and to counter the false propaganda of the opposition parties.
