People will benefit from simplified governance: Experts

Governance needs to be made more transparent and simplified to give people the benefits of various welfare schemes, experts participating at a seminar here said today even as they pitched for using easy technology as a two-way communication tool to get feedback.
The two-day national seminar on 'Good Governance, Development and Human Rights', organised by the National Human Rights Commission, along with National Law University, concluded here today.
"While hailing the RTI Act, the lack of awareness about laws, rules and policies at grassroot-level and people's inaccessibility to governments were some of the major worries, which were thought (by the experts) to be affecting governance," a statement said.

"It was felt that the governance required to be more transparent, simplified, using easy digital technologies as a two-way communication tool to give the people benefits of the welfare policies and get their feedback," it added.
The experts also felt the definition of healthcare needed to be expanded in Indian context.
They suggested that a provision should be made in the higher education curriculum for students to visit places to sensitise people at grassroot-level about their rights and remedies for redressal of their grievances.
Inaugurated by NHRC Chairman H L Dattu, the event was addressed by human rights experts and academicians, among others.
