A Primary Health Centre (PHC) clerk was arrested today on graft charge by the vigilance department in Bihar's Nawada district, an official release said.
Acting on a complaint, a Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) team headed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Paras Nath Singh laid a trap and caught the clerk Manindra Kumar Sinha red-headed at his office in Narhat block as soon as he took Rs. 6000 from one Harsh Anand Ravi, the release said.
Ravi, a native of Devnagar Hilsa village in Nalanda district, had lodged a complaint with the vigilance department that the PHC clerk in question was demanding Rs. 10,000 in bribe to process papers related to his salary and pension benefits following which a trap was led against Sinha, it said.
The tainted clerk was being brought to the state capital for interrogation before his production before a designated court for judicial remand, the release said.
The vigilance department has laid 36 traps and arrested 38 public servants this year in its crusade against corruption, it added.
