Khadi and village industries commission (KVIC) said that an Ahmadabad-based Charkha manufacture, Khadi Gramudyog Prayog Samiti, has last week supplied 25 charkhas and five looms in the village which falls in the parliamentary constituency of the Prime Minister.
KVIC Chairman V K Saxena in a statement said "this is a pilot project and after the success of this project, KVIC will set up a Unit of 200 Charkhas and 50 Looms in Jayapur which will give direct employment to 250 ladies and indirect employment to another 50 persons."
The woman Pradhan had provided the KVIC with a list of 35 women last month, who were interested in the training programme for operating the charkhas and looms, he said.
The statement said that these 25 Charkhas and 5 looms have been donated by National Council for Civil Liberties (NCCL), an Ahmedabad-based NGO.
