"..Today you have seen the sorry state of Indian democracy when entire opposition walked out at the time when motion was being adopted," Yechury told reporters here.
Stating that Modi was evasive in his speech, the CPI(M) leader said that in his reply there was not a single point of reply to any of the major points raised by many opposition leaders.
"It was a speech directed at the Uttar Pradesh elections and that is what he has delivered. His speech did not have the elementary humanism to condole the death of so many people who died in the lines waiting to withdraw their own money," he added.
Following Congress, Left parties also walked out from Rajya Sabha protesting that Modi's speech was completely evasive and they were not satisfied with his reply.
Meanwhile, TMC during the discussion also demanded a minute's silence for those who lost their lives allegedly due to demonetisation.
