Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for setting up four sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Patna on October 14 as part of the government's bid to curb Ganga water pollution, Union minister Nitin Gadkari today said.
The STPs of a total capacity of 140 million litres daily (MLD) are estimated to cost Rs 738.14 crore, the minister for River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation said.
"The prime minister will lay foundation stone for setting up the four STPs in Patna," Gadkari said at an event here.
According to an official statement, 10 more STPs of a total 479.4 MLD capacity have been sanctioned to be set up on hybrid annuity mode at various places in three Ganga basin states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal as the government goes about cleaning the river.
Tender documents for these projects are being prepared, the statement said.
