PM to visit RSP visit on Apr 1

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation the modernised and expanded units of Rourkela Steel Plant on April 1.
The new and modernised facilities of the SAIL plant has been completed at an investment of Rs 12000 crore, a RSP release said today.
This will be Modi's first visit to Odisha since assuming office.
Under this current modernisation and expansion (Modex) programme at SAIL, RSP has completed the present phase of Modex and operationalised the new integrated steel making facilities, the release said.
'Durga', one of the largest blast furnaces of the country is part of the Modex in which RSP has augmented its hot metal capacity from 2 MTPA to 4.5 MTPA, it said.

Rourkela is known for its special steels and the stringent quality assurance and for this the plant has earned many dedicated customers, including the defence ministry, it added.
