In a message to people of the country which he had visited in March, Modi said India and Seychelles enjoy a relationship that is "special" and characterised by "tremendous goodwill".
"On your national day, I convey my warmest greetings and best wishes," he said, adding, "Seychelles is a vital and valued partner in the Indian Ocean Region."
Modi, who had become the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Seychelles in 34 years, exuded confidence that ties between the two countries will become stronger in the years to come.
India had agreed to help Seychelles in mapping its hydrology reserves under four agreements signed during Modi's visit there. The Prime Minister had also launched a coastal surveillance radar project to boost security cooperation with the island nation.
