PM Modi wishes Sonia Gandhi on birthday

Modi's greetings came even as the Congress party has alleged the government is playing 'political vendetta'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted Congress President Sonia Gandhi on her 69th birthday, wishing her a long life and good health.

"On her birthday, greetings to Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi. May Almighty bless her with long life & good health," Modi tweeted.

Modi's greetings came even as the Congress party and the government were locked in a bitter fight with the opposition alleging "political vendetta" after Sonia and her son Rahul were summoned by a court in the National Herald case.

Congress yesterday stalled Parliament and took to streets over the issue.
