Party founder S Ramadoss said that P Vetrivel, who had quit as legislator from Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency here yesterday, had not mentioned the reason for doing so, nevertheless "even the commoners are aware of the fact why he resigned".
Though there was no word from AIADMK on the reason for Vetrivel's resignation, it is being seen as a move to enable re-election of party supremo J Jayalalithaa.

The PMK chief, in a statement, maintained that a bypoll after four years of assembly was unnecessary, adding it was a waste of time and using people's tax money.
He said the Election Commission and Centre should make efforts to amend the Representation of People's Act in this regard.
