Police bust gang of burglars, cosmetics worth Rs 25 L seized

Five men allegedly involved in several burglaries in the capital have been arrested by the Delhi Police, which also recovered stolen cosmetics worth Rs 25 lakh of international brands from their possession.
The five arrested men were running an organised gang involved in various burglary cases.
Manoj, 30, Sunil Sahni, 28, Neeraj 27, Amit Chaudhary, 35 and Hasmukh, 30, were arrested while the police was working on several undetected burglaries and thefts in North and North-West Delhi.
They landed in the police net after a team of police personnel got a specific information yesterday that a gang had burgled a godown of cosmetics in Burari area in north west Delhi.
Police said the modus operandi of the gang was to identify godowns and storehouses where burglary could be committed.
They used to then change the locks of the godown in the wee hours. Later, in the early hours when there is minimum vigil, they used to hire a tempo and clear the articles from the godown impersonating as the staff of the company.
Police said, in case the accused were not able to dispose of the stolen articles, accused Sunil used to take them to his native village in Bihar through a transport company and sell them off, while making people believe that he was engaged in some business in Delhi.
