Police were tonight looking for four JNU students on the campus in connection with a sedition case, after receiving information that they were spotted there this evening.
"We have received some information about their reported presence on campus. A police team was rushed to the varsity after we received information that they were spotted," police sources said.
When contacted, the university officials maintained they had no information about their presence at JNU.
Police had last week named five students, including Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and Ashutosh, alleging they were part of an event against hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru during which anti-national slogans were allegedly raised.
JNU Students Union president Kahnaiya Kumar was arrested on sedition charges on February 12, triggering widespread outrage among students, academicians and non-BJP political parties.
It was not immediately clear whether police were looking for the four students who were earlier named by them for their alleged involvement in the February 9 event.
Earlier today, atleast four Delhi based journalists including Sadiq Naqvi and a student of a central university in Delhi, were questioned about the whereabouts of Umar Khalid and a few other JNU students who the police are looking out for.
