The police today seized a suitcase containing a bomb-like object from a long distance bus in Guwahati, a police officer said.
The suitcase, weighing around 2 kg, was seized after an electric wire was found sticking out of it at the Khanapara bus depot here, he said.
The vehicle was travelling from Barpeta to the capital city.
A police team took the suitcase from the bus to a the nearby open field and covered with sand bags, the officer said.
Later, the bomb disposal squad opened the suitcase, took out the spherical object and found powder, used for making firecrackers, mixed with shards of glass inside it, he said.
The driver and the helper of the bus have been detained for interrogation, he added.
