of Delhi Police was thrashed while he was on duty on Wednesday evening in Mansarovar Park area of North-East Delhi.
According to the police, the incident took place when the ASI, identified as Jagdish Narayan, received a PCR call around 8 pm on Wednesday regarding a quarrel between two groups in the area.
"Narayan, along with his colleague, went to probe the matter. However, as soon as he stopped his motorcycle at the spot to inquire about the case, one of the accused attacked him with a glass bottle and injured him severely," a police officer said.
"The incident took place barely a few meters away from a checkpost due to which the accused were caught. Narayan was soon taken to a hospital and is said to be out of danger now," the officer said.
