"There had been some Polish technology in three underground mines of Coal India but after 1970s things do not moved forward but now they are looking at India in a big way," CII (east) member Mining and Mineral sub-committee, R P Ritolia said today.
At the time when India was trying to double coal production over the next five years, the Polish mining equipment and technology was trying to make inroads in the Indian coal mining sector.
"We are already in talks with some companies, including the Kolkata-headquartered Coal India Ltd," Poland's Economic Counsellor in India, Tomasz Wisniewski who led a eight leading mining companies from Poland to Kolkata said today.
Polish companies were focusing at underground coal mining sector which has technology to mine coal beneath up to 1000 metres.
