Election fever is gradually gripping Maharashtra's Vidarbha region after Prime Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted his party's poll pitch in the state by holding a massive rally in Gondia on Sunday.

Top leaders of all political parties were waiting for Dusshera and Eid festivities to get over, in order to unleash their campaign in this backward region ahead of the October 15 polls.

Traditional style rallies, padyatras, door to door contacts, public meetings are now underway in Vidarbha with most of the candidates reaching out to voters for the October 15 elections.

After Sunday's mammoth public meeting in Gondia, BJP workers were enthusiastic about the party's prospects in the upcoming polls in this region, which is a BJP stronghold.

Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray also recently addressed his first meeting in Nagpur at Reshimbagh ground, which is the home turf of RSS and BJP.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray also held a couple of meetings in Amravati, Wardha and one meeting in Nagpur city.

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan of the dissolved DF government addressed only one meeting in Pardi on the city outskirt for party candidate of East Nagpur.

NCP has deployed youth leader Supriya Sule for a couple of meetings in the city and in Wardha and Chandrapur districts.Party chief Sharad Pawar is also in Nagpur on Tuesday.
