Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today took strong exception to the criticism made by AINRC Chief N Rangasamy that the territorial government 'failed' the ryots of Karaikal on the Cauvery issue.

Addressing reporters here today, Narayanasamy said N Rangasamy and his party MLAs had boycotted the recent session of the territorial assembly particularly when the House adopted a resolution urging the Prime Minister to respond to the Supreme Court order on the Cauvery dispute.

Narayanasamy also said the AINRC legislators had also boycotted a joint meeting of the legislators and political leaders convened by him to discuss the Cauvery issue.

"While the AINRC had been boycotting all the meetings, Rangasamy accused the government of doing nothing for the farmers," the Chief Minister said and sought to know if the AINCR leader had persuaded the Centre to form the Cauvery Management Board.

"I have also written several letters to the Prime Minister on Cauvery issue, but there has been no response," he claimed.

Claiming that his government was spending funds earmarked for schemes without diverting them, Narayanasamy said the government-led by Rangasamy had in the past 'diverted' funds showing no concern for the impact such 'financial indiscipline' caused to the people.

The Chief Minister said he would soon write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking compensation for farmers who had been suffering for want of river water as the delay in constitution of CMB was aggravating the situation.
