For this purpose, the power discoms propose to introduce sub-category code in bills for government employees, a spokesman of DHBVN today said here.

The employees of the power department will be given code for the employees of the state government and state government undertakings, the spokesman said.

In the first phase, the code of employees belonging to the power department will be fed into the billing database.

In the second phase, connections of all the employees of the departments of state government residing in colonies, police lines or private houses will be codified, he said.

In the third phase, connections pertaining to employees of the central government will be codified. The mechanism is likely to be ready within next three months, he said.

The codification of government employees will be renewed every year in the month of March/April when they submit their house rent allowance (HRA) claim in the income tax reports.

The spokesman said the concerned office would check the defaulter list and in case of defaulters, intimation would be sent to the concerned department of the government(s) for recovery, he said.
