Power situation improving in Bihar: Nitish

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has made a promise not to seek vote in the next Assembly elections in 2015 if he fails to improve the power situation in the state, today said supply of electricity has now increased to 2,300 MW.
"At present a total of 2,300 MW power is being supplied in the state which will go up to 3,000 MW in 2014 and 4,000 MW in the next year," Kumar said while addressing a function after inaugurating a road bridge here, about 50 km from Patna.
Power supply in Bihar was about 1,200 MW in 2012 and as low as around 750 MW in 2005.

Stating that his government was paying special attention to power, Kumar said after the education sector, where 24 per cent of the state's budget was allocated, it was the power sector where money is being pumped into.
He said every sub-division would have a grid sub-station and each block a power sub-station soon, and added his government was paying extra attention on building road bridges and so far 12,000 bridges have been constructed.
