The chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Pradip Bhattacharya, today said he would demand an NIA investigation into the arms depot fire in Pulgaon and seek a report from the Home Ministry.
Bhattacharya said after the Pathankot Air base attack earlier this year, he had cautioned the Home Ministry and asked them to increase security in strategic locations across the country.
"I had then said that if such an incident can happen in Pathankot then it can happen anywhere in the country. Now there has been this fire incident in Nagpur. I will demand NIA investigation and seek report from the Home Ministry," he told PTI.
At least 16 defence personnel, including two Army officers, were today killed in a massive fire that broke out at one of Asia's biggest ammunition depot in Maharashtra's Pulgaon that houses the largest stockpile of weapons in the country.
