A function is being organised here on May 31 to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's historic journey to Chicago.
On May 31, 1893, Vivekanand had boarded the steamer S S Peninsular at the Bombay Port (where the Gateway of India was later erected) for his historic US visit.
To commemorate this occasion, President Pranab Mukherjee will pay floral tributes at the statue of Swami Vivekananda at the Gateway of India, a release here said.
He will also be the chief guest at a function at the Convocation Hall of the University of Mumbai. The programme is organised by the Ramakrishna Mission.
