Prisoner escapes from court area in Jammu; Cop arrested

A murder accused had escaped while being taken to a court here following which one constable was suspended for dereliction of duty and sent to jail, police said today.
Prisoner Raseel Sandyal was being taken to court yesterday in connection with a murder case registered against him in 2009, a police officer said adding that he gave a slip to the cop accompanying him and escaped.
Constable Yudhvir Sharma, who was bringing the accused to the court, was suspended and immediately arrested for grave negligence, he said, adding a case has been registered against the prisoner for his escape.
Police had conducted search operations at various places, but whereabouts of the prisoner was yet to be ascertained, the officer said.
