According to a complaint lodged by the victim's family members, Balveer, who was detained by the Avagarh police on April 23 in a murder case, was allegedly tortured by the officials in their custody, SSP Ajay Mohan Sharma said.
He was administered an injection of petrol and was forced to sit on heating pan by the police, his lawyer had told the court after which a panel of three doctors examined him and confirmed infection in his body.
The inquiry into the incident has been handed to circle officer Vijay Kapil, the SSP said, adding that strict action would be initiated if the allegations were found to be true.
