Process to declare certain wild animals as vermin in initial

Goa government today said the process to declare certain wild animals as vermin is still in the initial stage.
"The process to declare certain wild animals as vermin is in initial stages. The forest department is still assessing the kind of animals involved in damaging agricultural crops and properties," state Forest Minister Rajendra Arlekar said here.
The department is in the process of receiving data from various range forest officers about animals involved in damaging crops, properties and even sometime attacking humans, he said, adding once the report is ready it would be placed before state Wildlife Board for approval.

After the state Wildlife Board approves the proposal, it will be forwarded to the National Wildlife Board, which will take the final decision, he said.
