Prof S Mohanty appointed VC of Central University of Orissa

Distinguished educationist Prof Sachidananda Mohanty has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Orissa at Koraput.
The President in his capacity as the Visitor, has designated Prof Mohanty as the Vice Chancellor, as per a communique received from Human Resources Development Ministry, a release from the university said today.
Prof Mohanty, a former head of the Department of English in University of Hyderabad, will resume full charge of the university soon, it said.
He is the recipient of several national and international awards including those from the British Council, the Salzburg, the Katha and the Fulbright.

Prof Mohanty has to his credit 26 books in English and Odia.
He has lectured at a number of leading universities in India and abroad including Cornell University, Pittsburgh University, the City University of New York, California State University, University of New Mexico at Taos, Loyola University at Chicago and Australia National University, Canberra, it added.
