Associate Professor (anaesthesiology) Wilayat Nabi Bhat, who was working at the SKIMS hospital here, died during the intervening night at BSNL residential quarters in Sanatnagar area of the city, a police official said.
Bhat was putting up at the BSNL quarters with his wife, who works in the telecom company.
The professor's wife along with the kids had gone to visit her parental home last evening, the official said.
He said the preliminary investigation shows that Bhat had died due to electrocution caused by short circuit in the electric blanket which he had not switched off before going to sleep.
