Union DoNER Minister Pawan Singh Ghatowar today said that his ministry has sanctioned 183 projects worth Rs 2,116 crore for Arunachal Pradesh over the past few years.
"Projects worth Rs 540 crore under North East Council (NEC) have also been sanctioned for the frontier state during the same period," Ghatowar said while addressing the Vikas Rally organized by the state government at Indira Gandhi Park here today.
The rally was organized to highlight the achievement of the Nabam Tuki-led Congress government in the state. It also marks the completion of two years of the present government under Tuki who had assumed office on November 1, 2011.
The minister while highlighting various packages allocated by the Centre for the state, informed that during the Eleventh Five year plan, Arunachal Pradesh received an amount of Rs 7900 crore which was a hike of 190 per cent from the allocation during the tenth plan period.
"In the Twelfth Plan period, the Centre had allocated an amount of Rs 11,175 crore for Arunachal with substantial hike of 41 per cent from the eleventh plan period," the minister said and added that the Centre was alive to the problems of the land-locked state and was initiating several development measures.
Blowing the poll bugle for the 2014 Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the state, Ghatowar called upon the people to vote for the Congress saying that the state would prosper only if Congress returns to power at the Centre.
Referring to the achievement of the state government in the past two years, the minister termed Arunachal as the 'best ruled' state in the country.
Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Ranee Narah said that the vision of the UPA-II government at the Centre was to develop the entire North East states and said that Tuki had forged ahead to fulfil the vision with dedication.
Narah, who represent Assam's North Lakhimpur constituency also advocated hammering out an amicable solution to the decades-old boundary problem between Arunachal and Assam through negotiation for overall development of the neighbouring states.
