A primary school boy student was allegedly badly beaten by the headmistress of a panchayat school at nearby Tirupur, resulting in parents and public laying seige to the school, seeking action against her.
The student, Vasanth, returned to school yesterday, after taking leave on Monday.
Since he reportedly failed to do his homework, the headmistress Karunambal got angry and allegedly beat him with a stick, causing injuries, police said.
After the boy reported the incident to his parents, they rushed to the school today, along with a few other parents and laid siege seeking action against the headmistress for beating the boy, police said.
District and police officials went to the school and convened a meeting to defuse the situation, they said.
