Protests erupted in Kokernag town in Kashmir's Anantnag district today after some locals alleged verses of a holy book were found written on papers stuffed in firecrackers.
Residents of Kokernag town took to the streets alleging that firecrackers burst by youths during the Eid festivities yielded papers with holy verses inscribed on them, a police spokesman said
The locals demanded action against manufacturers of these products, he said.
Police chased away the protesters who blocked roads and set afire a motorcycle, the spokesman said.
He said police are investigating the allegations.
