Puthiya Tamizhakam today demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of a Dalit engineering graduate whose body was found near a railway track in Namakkal district recently.
Attacks on inter-caste lovers were on the rise and there was no protection and security to the dalit students in Tamil Nadu, PT president K Krishnasamy, MLA, alleged.
Considering all the facts, the Centre should order a CBI inquiry into the death and also monitor incidents of attacks and torture of dalit youths, Krishnasamy told reporters here.
V Gokulraj, who graduated in engineering from a college in Namakkal last year, was found dead on a railway track near Pallipalayam in Namakkal District on Wednesday last.
Dalit groups have alleged that it was case of honour killing since he was in 'love' with a Hindu girl,
"This is a clear case of caste-based murder, as Gokulraj was found talking with a caste-Hindu girl at a temple, two days before the body was found," Krishnasamy claimed.
