The 130-year-old industry in Barpeta producing fireworks which are less polluting in nature was not getting proper attention from the buyers due to lack of publicity, said a BJYM press release here.
The call for boycott of Chinese products made the public search for alternate source of fireworks and this local industry got its long due attention, the release said.
"This is a very good sign for Indian economy. We must give preference to local products as much as possible," it said.
Appealing everyone to boycott Chinese products, the members of BJYM, Assam Pradesh have distributed free clay lamps to the people as a token of gift on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, it added.
