The rocker's car was pulled over by officers in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, for having an expired registration, but the situation then escalated quickly for Scantlin, reported TMZ.
Cops realised there was a warrant out for his arrest, and during a search of his car, they allegedly found a controlled substance.
Scantlin was arrested on misdemeanour drugs charges and was booked on a USD 51,000 bail.
A representative for the rocker has yet to comment on the report.
