An official spokesman today said that the SAD-BJP government has spent Rs 73.30 crore during previous two years on tube well installation-related works under different schemes.
He said that with concretisation and construction of canals and installation of deep tube wells, irrigation facilities being provided to the farmers in the state have increased manifold, resulting in rapid development.
"The state government has concretised water bodies measuring 2215 kilometres during last two years under various schemes at a cost of Rs 328.28 crore, which has lead to 1,30,992 hectares of land being brought under irrigation," he said.

The spokesman said Badal will inaugurate the
Rehabilitation of Bist Doab Canal project on February 20 in Jalandhar district.
The Bist Doab Canal was carved out of the Ropar Headworks for providing irrigation facility to the farmers of the Doaba region, he said.
The project is a first-of-its-kind canal network which will use concrete lining instead of the conventional brick lining, he said, adding the technique was exclusively used in the construction of dams.
Modernisation of minors, distributaries and water courses was also part of this project due to which its cost has been raised to Rs 320 crore, the spokesman said.
