Punjab Health Minister presented with award in UK

Punjab's Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Health Madan Mohan Mittal has been conferred with the 'Jewel of Punjab Award' by a Sikh diaspora body in the UK.
Dr Rami Ranger MBE, Chairman of the British Sikh Association, along with Richard Harrington, MP, Vice Chairman of Conservative Party, presented the award to Mittal at the Annual Dinner of the Association here last night.
"Mittal is spearheading a project on improving Punjab's Health, by developing, UK-Indian Healthcare relations.
He is also leading a campaign with Parkash Singh Badal on Cancer prevention, and treatments, as well as Drug De-Addiction and Mental Health issues in Punjab; they have opened cancer Centres in the districts of Punjab in order to get healthcare to the rural sector," the citation said.
Receiving the award Mittal said "I have really no words to thank the British Sikh Association for the award. I will present the award to Parkash Singh Badal, the Chief Minister."
Four others, including Ravinder Singh Gidar, Founder and Managing Director of Gold Care Homes, were presented with the 'Sikh Jewel Award'.
Other recipients were Dr Pooja Dassan, a consultant neurologist at Ealing Hospital and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Professor Jaspal S Kooner, a leading clinical cardiologist and clinician scientist, and Paul Uppal MP, the only Sikh Member of British Parliament and seen as a future star of the Conservative Party.
The Association also paid tribute to Drummer Lee Rigby, the British soldier who was murdered by terrorists here in May.
Paying tribute to Rigby, Dr Ranger said "Tonight we are paying tribute to Drummer Lee Rigby, a brave soldier who was murdered by terrorists in the name of their religion.
