Visuals have surfaced showing controversial self-styled godwoman Radhe Maa sitting on an SHO's chair at a police station and swaying with policemen at a Ram Lila function here, forcing an embarrassed Delhi Police to order an inquiry into the incidents.
A photograph purportedly taken at the Vivek Vihar police station shows Station House Officer Sunjoy Sharma, draped in a red and gold shawl worn by Hindu devotees, standing next to Radhe Maa with folded hands.
She also makes an appearance in a video recorded at the Ram Lila function at GTB Enclave where five police personnel from the GTB Enclave police station are seen singing patriotic songs as she sways to their tune and in the end also lip syncs with them.
She is also heard saying, "All the countrymen should stay with harmony" after signing off with Jai Shri Ram, even as the policemen also join in.
The incidents happened on the intervening night of September 28 and 29.
The five policemen in the video, which was uploaded on Radhe Maa's Facebook page, are assistant sub-inspectors Braj Bhushan and Radhe Krishan, head constable Pramod, and constables Hitesh and Ravinder, a senior police official said.
After the facts came out, a prompt inquiry was ordered, said Nupur Prasad, deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara).
"After the preliminary inquiry, it was felt that there was professional misconduct on the part of the SHO and ASI Braj Bhushan (who was singing in the video before others joined in). They have been suspended with immediate effect," she added.
Further action will be taken after the final findings, said the officer, adding, "The message is loud and clear. No such unprofessional misconduct will be tolerated."
An additional deputy commissioner of police has begun an inquiry in the matter, the police said.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, an official said the SHO had claimed that Radhe Maa was on her way to the Ram Lila function and had stopped at the police station to use its washroom.
A devotee of the godwoman, who was accompanying her on that day, claimed that the SHO had asked her to stand from the chair when she sat down on it.
"We were travelling from Rohini to Vivek Vihar to attend a Ramlila function and it took us almost two-and-a-half hours to reach there.
"Radhe Maa was accompanied by a pregnant woman and they wanted to use a washroom. One of the persons accompanying us said that he knows the incharge of Vivek Vihar police station and said that he would seek permission to use the washroom," he told PTI.
The devotee added that after the godwoman used the washroom in the SHO's cabin, she came out and sat on his seat.
"He requested her to get up and the photograph that shows him with folded hands was probably clicked at that time when he was requesting her to get up from his seat. As for the shawl that he was seen wearing, a follower had put it over him," the devotee claimed.
He said that the SHO was not to be blamed for the incident.
About the video in which policemen could be seen singing, he said that they get many invitations to Ram Lila functions and he did not recall much about the video.
Sukhwinder Kaur alias Radhe Maa, who has attracted eyeballs for her glitzy pictures on social media, is at the centre of several controversies.
Earlier this year, a Mumbai-based woman had approached the Bombay High Court alleging that Kaur instigated her in- laws to harass her for dowry.
In 2015, a BJP MLA from Gujarat had demanded a probe against Kaur in connection with a case where seven members of a family committed suicide.
