Radio broadcasting from other countries heard in Ukhand

Radio broadcasting from other countries is heard in some parts of the border district of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore said today.
In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, he said that Prasar Bharati has informed that radio broadcasting from other countries is heard in the some parts of frontier district Pithoragarh.
"Presently 1kW, MW and 100 W FM transmitters are providing radio coverage of the district of Pithoragarh of Uttarakhand. AIR programmes broadcast from SW transmitters are being heard in the renmote rural areas of the frontier districts including Pithoragarh," Rathore said.
He said that a scheme for setting up of 10 kW FM transmitter at Pithoragarh has been approved under the 12th Plan.
Replying to another question, Rathore said Prasar Bharati has informed that there are no permanent news readers or news presenters in Doordarshan News.
