Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today met party leaders from Telangana amid uncertainty over the party's alliance with TRS.
According to sources, former ministers from Telangana were part of the meeting. Gandhi, sources said, sought the views from leaders on improving the electoral prospects of Congress in Telangana region.
The meeting comes at a time when Congress is expected to draw a blank in Seemandhra region while it is keeping its fingers crossed over TRS' refusal for merger.
Party general secretary Digvijay Singh today said new PCC chiefs for both Telangana and Seemandhara would be decided soon.
Gandhi's meeting with Telangana leaders came as Congress and TRS are likely to hold talks here early next week over electoral alliance after the regional party in Andhra Pradesh rejected the demand for a merger.
"I am in touch with (TRS leader) Kesava Rao. He is likely to come to Delhi on Monday," Singh had said.
TRS has appointed a committee of senior leaders, headed by Kesava Rao, to take a call on the alliance.
Singh downplayed questions on opposition by a section of Telangana Congress leaders against the alliance with TRS.
"There are all kind of views and we are talking to our own leadership, which will decide," he added.
Congress sources said names of former Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, former minister Jana Reddy and union minister S Jaipal Reddy are being considered for the post of PCC President in Telangana.
