The Congress Vice President's visit to Gujarat is the first after Modi was anointed PM candidate by BJP.
Gandhi will be in Ahmedabad on October 3 and in Rajkot the next day, party General Secretary Gurudas Kamat said.
Kamat, who is in-charge of party affairs in Gujarat, said that on October 3 Gandhi will address a meeting of National Council of the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the students' wing of Congress.
Gandhi's visit is taking place at a time when the state party has launched aggressive agitation against the Modi government on the issue of corruption.
Over 200 Congressmen were detained in Ahmedabad today after party's front organisations - Youth Congress and NSUI - started marching towards the Assembly after the public meeting.
