Railway contractor served notice for breach of contract

A show-cause notice has been served to a railway contractor for alleged breach of contract by not providing an alternative route for commuters while constructing a railway bridge here, police said today.
A Railway Over Bridge (ROB) is being constructed here at Gate No 15A, popularly known as Exhibition Ground Railway Crossing, SSP Laxmi Singh said.
The construction began in June 2012 and since then the road connecting over a dozen trans bridge localities has been blocked by the contractor, he said.
According to the terms of ROB construction, the contractor is bound to provide an alternative route till the commission of the bridge, he added.

The failure on part of contractor to provide alternative passage has paralysed the traffic system here and created problems for people, Singh said.
A show-cause notice has been served to the contractor and Railway Junior Engineer Devender has also been summoned for questioning, he added.
