Railway engineer arrested on charges of accepting bribe

A Southern Railway engineer was today arrested by the CBI for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 for an official favour.
Senior Section Engineer, Thotta Sivakumar, who is attached to the construction wing of Southern Railways, was arrested on a compliant from a contractor and produced before the Principal Special Judge court for CBI cases which remanded him to judicial custody, a statement issued by the CBI said.
Acting on the complainant that Sivakumar was demanding Rs 15,000 for taking measurement of the executed contract work to enable the contractor raise the bill, CBI registered a case and laid a trap.
Sivakumar was arrested while accepting the bribe, it said, adding that the case was under further investigation.
